    3. Hi All: My ggrandfather frequented a house nearby the overpass across the tracks in Cedar Bluff. My ggrandmother was killed by a train on her way there one day to bring him home. Where can I find any information on this house (building)? Is the building there now the same one in 1890? It looks like a hotel from the outside. Was It? Thanks for any and all help Paul

    1. Hollows
    2. I'm afraid you missed some hollows in Lee County. One especially, Belgium Hollow on rt. 421, where I was born. I believe there are about 6 on Rt. 421 between the mouth of Stone Creek to the foot of the mountain, just before the KY border. You mentioned Crusenberry which I believe is one of them. I'm trying to find out the names of the rest but two that you missed was Ely's Creek and Pucketts Creek. Puckett's creek is between the mouth of the creek and St. Charles. Ely's Creek goes off to the right at the old Dean store (if it's still there). Some of the hollows have branches on them that form other hollows. You can go through Belgium Hollow and into Brushy Mountain and out at the foot of the mountain on 421. Bev.

He was listed as half blood cherokee, perhaps this may have been a tie to the cherokee legend in the Boggs family. He fell in love with a chief's daughter. her name tsa yeh nay nah (if I remember correctly) This is possibly where the "indian princess" tradition began in the Boggs line. John ran the ferry for the prominent cherokee of the day. Also listed was the household of a John Boggs in Tennessee cosisting of 12 or 13 fullbloods of catawba and cherokee. 1. Lost and Found
    2. Kathy Bemisdarfer
    3. I just wanted to share a Story that I was a part of Last Year, It is one thing to find our lost relatives that have passed on 100 of years back, but to reunite a family that had been separated for 50 years, has been one of my highlights in doing research. Upon starting to do my research with many good family members and friends on the Net, I had found back to my GGGGrandfather. Only Starting out to know who my GGrandfather was, he was suppose to have been an Orphan, but I have found information to prove who his parents were. Up on doing this my mom was very proud of me, she had told many of the progress I had made on our family names. Well to my surprise, my sister in laws, Mother, was a small child when her mom died in Letcher Co., KY. She asked me to help, through process of elimination, find out if she could remember if it were summer or winter when her mom died. I was able to find her death certificate and then from that we located the Cemetery where her Mom was buried in. But the most important thing, she told me that her Dad had never told them where her mom was buried, they had since moved away from the area in to Southern VA & WV, well she told me after her mom died and her father remarried, they had never heard from their Older Brother again. It had been over 47 years since the other siblings had seen him. I went to work, had tried for about 6 months, then Bingo, I got the clue I needed. Found him in WI, they all had a wonderful reunion last June. He had remarried, had a stroke, and the new wife, had no ideal about his family in WV, Well I think this will always be one of my Most rewarding fine. I have been able to help to reunite a Family. I found him 2 days before Christmas, They all told me this was the best Christmas Present that they could have ever received. So the next time people bug you about being on the computer and researching, just tell them, it is worth its weight in Gold. Kathy B

    1. Reunions
    2. Dear Kathy Bemisdarfer: I have a similar tale. There are seven of us. My biological mother had three brothers. My oldest siblings kept in touch with where us younger ones were and through one of the adopted mothers was able to stay up with us and we reunited in l976. But we never knew about our biological uncles whom we thought were all dead. About 3 years ago, we found out that one of my uncles, who had been at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, had just deceased leaving an estate of 400 to 450,000 dollars. The money was to go to the next of kin. The only relative still left alive that it could go to would be our mother. Since my cousins knew that my other two uncles were dead, they thought our mother was dead also. They were told to produce death certificates of my uncle's brothers and sister. My cousins proceeded to look for a death certificate on file for our mother. When they could not find one, they began to get excited because they wanted to reunite with our mother. When they found that she had had seven children, they really got excited. When they found my oldest brothers and learned from them that our mother was still alive, they were overjoyed. Because of one greedy brother, they never got to see my mother before she did pass away. Needless to say, all seven of us inherited the estate. But what has been even more wonderful is that I was able to meet cousins and relatives that I never knew I had. And what is even more amazing is that one of the cousins had done quite a bit of genealogical research before they began to look for our mother. A professional genealogist wanted 40% of the estate to find our mother. My cousins said no. That they would find her and they did using the one cousin's knowledge of genealogy and the family history that she had already put together. Now I am trying to put together the family history of my biological dad's side. So I say keep looking, you never know what or whom you might find.

You will find excerpts from the Jan. 1, 1872 "Cumberland Spectator" and the first 6 months of 1888 "Cumberland Gap Progess". Both were printed in Tazewell, TN and predecessors to the "Claiborne Progress". I will be adding more articles as time allows. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. 1. MORGAN
    2. R. Marsh
    3. Hello the list, I am searching for any information on my MORGAN line. I have very little clues so far, but here it what I have: Wilbur Clay MORGAN + Martha RIGGIN (?) (b. Nov.26,1869) Wilbur Clay (Flap Scales) MORGAN + Eulah May NELSON (b.March 1892 (b.Oct.4,1894 m.Jan.11,1910 d.Feb.17,1937) d.May 1951) I have looked at many records of MORGANs in Delmarva area but can't connect them to these MORGANs. Family members say Wilber Clay Sr. travelled alot. Wilber Clay Jr. never met his father until he was a grown man. He was said to have some sort of "power" because of this, and was accused of using it to "break up" families. There are some interesting stories about Martha RIGGIN too. She was paid by folks for services unknown. They came to the house and when they left she had money. Family has made a few guesses ie: she was either a prostitute or a seer. Thanks for any clues, Regina ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
