    3. For those who are researching Scott Co. VA families, I have started a Scott Co Va photo project at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~drakefam/scottphotos/ We will accept any photos of people, places and things related to Scott Co. We also have a section for headstone and cemetery photos and another for historical documents that have been scanned and submitted by viewers. Come take a look, there are a few group shots with numerous unknown folks, maybe you can identify someone there. There are instructions at the site on how to submit your own photos. pat

    1. lost grannies/GROSS,PERDUE,LEWIS, Knipp,Perrigan,&?
    2. Here is a list of GGG- Grandmothers I have nothing on except a name. What a shame, our granny's dissappear with no history except their married name and a list of children. I would like to know these Granny's families too. Can anyone help, or does anyone connect with these Grandmothers? 1. Charity Gross - born abt. 1790 in Pa. married John Perrigan. ( their children end up in Washington County,Va.) Who was Charity's parents, and some Gross family history would be nice. I hate that Charity is just a name, no born, no died, nothing about her. 2. Sarah ? - Poor Sarah does not even have a last name! I find her in Washington County census up until about 1880 at age 92 living with daughter, Matilda and son in law, John Jackson. No death record, they just dissappear, ( all of them). Sarah was married to Levi Canter. Sarah needs a maiden name. She was somebody before she married Levi and had his children! 3. Rebecca James - married Levi Canter in 1815 Scott County,Va. Is Rebecca my Sarah or a different wife? Who was Rebecca's parents? Where was she born and where did she die? 4. Rachel Lewis - born 1785, married in Wythe County,Va. March 10,1811 to Daniel Whittaker. What about her Lewis family? Will I ever know? 5. Obediance or Abediance ( Biddie) Perdue married Joseph Whittaker abt, 1774, but where? Who was the Perdue family she come from? Their older children found in Old Mt. Airy, but can't find a marriage record for them. 6. Camilla Adkins - 2nd wife of Joseph Whittaker, no other info. 7. Barbara Knipp - married Michael Brown in Wythe County, Va., she was born in 1779 and married in Nov. 1797. She probably belongs in Verner Knipp family, but where? 8. Elizabeth Perrigan who married William Canter, We believe she is the daughter of John Perrigan and Charity Gross, but not 100%. There seems to be a Booher connection too, but can't proove it. At least we know her place of rest. Anyone with resources who is kind enough to find more on these grannies, please help me. Any one who may have a kinship please write. Many thanks. Connie in Va.

    2. Hi list. I think you out to check out this site: www.ancientfaces.com It's a site that stores photos, family stories, recipes, and you can also add the URL to your own web site. It also has a 'military' photo side. I have already received a number of emails from the photos that I have posted, and exchanged info on common ancestors! I have posted some of my Ferguson ancestors from the area, if anyone also has Fergusons from south west VA and is interested. 2. Volks, I have unpacked most of my books and materials. I have the History of SWVA and Hx of Tazewell. I have all the 1860 Wash. Co. census, part of the 1850 Wash. & Russell Co. census, and the early Wash Co. marriage records. Obviously I can't search randomly but if someone need a look up I would be happy to help. The 1860 census are broken down into about ten districts: Abingdon, Raven's Nest, Three Springs, The Forks, Goodson, Clear Branch/creek, Mendota, Lodi, etc. If you are new or a beginner, maybe I could answer a question to get you started. I hope to get my maps out next week. I hope to be working on them and would appreciate contributions. -eddie NC
