    1. KERRs, CARRs, & Rebirth
    2. Jane, I am very thankful to you right now! I will get to that in a minute. While at NARA, I decided to take a look at the Revolutionary War Pension & Land Grant Applications (M804 series). I did not find anything regarding Andrew KERR or William KERR that met your specifications. I did find a William KERR born in PA who moved to NC but according to pages from the Family Bible, no son Andrew was associated with him. Now the reason for my thankfulness! While looking for William, I scanned many files with NC, PA, & SC service. One of these, Joseph KERR, I had to copy. Joseph enlisted from Mecklinburg County, NC. The great thing about him was that he was a cripple (his words). Joseph, noticing the congregations of Tories & British around that area and their attendent depredations went to Rowan County and proposed to Col. McDowell that he be a "spy". His exploits are worthy of Jack Higgins! I have copied his affidavit and will put the transcription on my web page as well as send a copy of the same to the Mecklingburg County USGenWeb site administrator. Thinking that either William or Andrew might be listed as CARR, I went looking into those Pension Applications. I fortunately found several things. One, on December 25, 1783 it was "severely cold" in Kennebunk, Maine. Second, that the future brother-in-law of John Baxter CARR, Dominicus LORD went "three miles" on that day to collect the fiddler. Jane, I couldn't help you very much but your request reemphasized the fact that genealogy is not just all names and dates but people's life's. By the way, if you ever want to get lost in the Nat'l Archives, just pull open a film from the M804 series!!!! Best of wishes, Billy Markland

    1. Look up request PLEASE
    2. Well, I have been poking around and found myself a new Canter, like I already didn't have enough trouble fitting these people together, LOL. This one I believe to be a brother to my grandpa. Now grandpa has a mother named Mary Canter, d/o William Canter & Elizabeth Perrigan, but NO BODY KNOWS grandpa's daddy, hummm. Mary Canter, and some unknown man or men had 3 children, my grandpa, Martin Canter, who married Eliza Canter, d/o William H. Canter & Mary Ann Whittaker, ( 1st cousin marriage).Laura Canter who married a Frank Black, and now this Joseph Canter, who married Lucy Thomas. Could you fine people out there look in your resource books for a DADDY for these 3, or see if one of them list a daddy on a marriage record, or a birth record has a daddy listed? Also found 3 children for Joseph & Lucy, anything can be found about them? Their names were: Eva Canter, Emory Canter, & Joseph Canter. Lucy Thomas had 3 brothers I think, Mance Field, Chesterfield, & William, but I do not know her parents names. Oh, dates for Joseph Canter & Lucy born about 1864, And they never make it easy for me, no other clues except Mary the mother of Joseph born between 1840-1850. Any info appreciated! Many Thanks. Connie

    3. I am looking for any information on Betty ATKINS(possibly ADKINS) that married John HAGER, born about 1860, son of Caroline Moore HAGER and Henry HAGER. I believe that John HAGER and Betty ATKINS were married between 1880 and 1890 because: 1. John HAGER is listed on the 1880 census as Stephen LAMBERT's stepson. 2. John HAGER and Betty ATKINS had a daughter, Nora HAGER on 11 August 1889 who later married William Henry LAMBERT on 4 Sept 1908. I am unable to locate Betty ATKINS or ADKINS on any Tazewell County census and do not have access to the Smyth County census. Any help is appreciated!
