I hope that each of you had a very Merry Christmas. Here, in North Carolina, the sky was blue, the air crisp, and we enjoyed the company of my husband's two cousins. Plenty of phone calls from friends and family in other states. We did miss being in Texas with son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, grandson, grandaughter-in-law and the two greats, but we were together in spirit. Best wishes to all in the New Year. Connie

Our little family - daughter Mary, daughter Ruth and her husband Steve and their 2 year old son, and I - spent Christmas Eve at his family home in Los Angeles, California. The little boy really was excited by all the goodies he received even though he is too young to understand it all. I live alone at the long time home of our family in the high desert north of L.A. since my wonderful wife Patsy (McKee) Rogers, born in Virginia, went home to be with the Lord 4 years ago. My wife's McKee family had a small reunion in Chilhowie, Smyth County, Virginia last August. I was unable to go because of health problems, but bought airline tickets for the rest of the family to go. They were able to enjoy the striking beauty of Southwest Virginia at a great time of year. They also were able to see the area where Patsy's ancestors McKee, St. John, Glenn and Copenhaver had lived starting about two centuries ago. Their uncle lives in the great old house built by their ancestor, Confederate Cavalry officer Andrew Fulton St. John, right after the unCivil War. Best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I will be reading your postings and searching for more info on my wife's ancestors in Virginia next year. Thanks for all the interesting stories. Clark Rogers --------------285F7D2B611A--

It's Christmas eve and all the children have opened presents at their Aunts and Uncles , We had a wonderful meal, with turkey, dressing, and the fixings, also ham, oysters, and several deserts. I am back home catching up on all the cards and letters from my internet family. I have found a new cousin in California this past week to exchange information with. Isn't this internet thingy a wonderful toy. Let us be kind to all our new cousins who get Computers for christmas, and are just starting their search. May they be as lucky as i was and have the wonderful support i have had. May this be a safe and happy season for everyone, and may you find that elusive ancestor. Dear friends, I will take Eddie up on the warm invitation. I'm alone, but it's been a productive year for family history and I'm grateful to be in a cozy beach cottage instead of under a bridge! I'm also so very grateful for all the help I received from you. SW VA has been greatly on my mind lately, for I've made a commitment to travel there next fall. Looking forward to hanging out in libraries and courthouses, and to driving roads in Ashe, Carter, Johnson, Allegheny, and Grayson Counties, as well as Russell Co. Big deal for an Oregonian! Now where is that lovely lady who was thinking of opening a bed & breakfast especially suited to genealogists? I'll soon be ready to make reservations! My very best to every one of you. In the coming year, may Heavenly Father bless us all with health, patience, perception, and rewards in proportions appropriate to our personal investment. Volks, The list has been deathly quiet. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Be sure to wish Jesus a very Happy Birthday. I hope everyone is with their precious, loving family. I think of the happy Christmas with family members who have passed on. I am having a wonderful time in S. CA with my ten year old daughter, Rebecca. We spent ten hours at an amusement park. I'm much too old for that. Dec 26 it is back to NC to see the others. If you feel like it, please send a Merry Christmas and 1-2 sentences about who you are spending it with. Watch out we may get 500 msgs today. God bless you all with true, lasting happiness!! -eddie List owner
I am looking for relatives of a Samuel YOUNG who served with Col Campbell at the battle of King's Mountain. I know this is a streach to be looking in TN because Campbell was from just across the line in VA but my Sam's oldest daughter was born in Rowan Co NC in 1782 and Rowan co covered parts of NE Tenn at that time anything is possible. Thanks J. Ray Young
I am looking for any relatives of a Samuel YOUNG that said that he served under Col Campbell at the battle of King's Mountain. He did a short hitch with the Northumberland Co PA malitia in 1778 and then he said that he moved to Montgomery co VA where he served 2 three month hitches with Campbell. I have found no YOUNGs in Montgomery co but there were some in Washington co. Since he was only 18 years old when he moved to VA I am guessing that he moved with family. He was in nearby Rowan co NC in 1782 so he did not stay long but probably left his family behind. Thanks J. Ray Young
I will ditto everything that Ann had to say. It was a great trip & did appreciate how fast it all worked. Congrats to all that worked on this! Carol

Hi Guys! Just wanted to wish you each a Happy Holiday Season. And may the New Year bring us all genealogical goodies!! I am enclosing a surname list since I have seen many of these names on the list recently. I can send more information on these fascinating people who we theorize have a Mediterranean origin with connections to Native Americans, white folk of other origins and black folk too. Please note that a connection to the Melungeons brings some health issues along with it for some of us so take a look at my medical website noted below. There is also a brief overview of the Melungeons off the first paragraph of the medical page.
