Haven't heard about a Sutton Reunion in Mississippi, but might be interested in the research you were given. My Ms. Sutton clan begins with James Morris Sutton, early of Claiborne Co. and later of Greenville, Washington Co. Married to Eliza VanNorman first, then later to Laura Cross. Children were Thomas Jefferson Sutton, Benjamin Humphreys Sutton, and daughters Kate, Emaline, and Mary. Son Richard Cross died of disease early in the Civil War. Time period is early 1800's up through early 20th century. Will supply more specific dates if this is of interest.
