Her mother was the first Sutton in my direct line. This line of Sutton's is from my mother's side of the family. I do have connections to the Sutton's from my father's side of the family but not in my direct line. Eljah Sutton a grtx uncle (the brother of James Dozier Sutton who is my direct line) was married to a Cherokee name Elizabeth Ward. I am related to Elizabeth through my father's Cherokee family. Therefore, related to those Sutton descendents through my father & mother's family. I have suspected that Elijah may have been part Cherokee.
