    1. Re: [SUTTON] Re: SUTTON's in North Carolina
    2. William Sutton died in Warren County, NC. His widow Elizabeth Jackson later was in Wilkes County Ga. William had children named Moses, John and Nancy. John Sutton married Mary Hay in Ga. I have had no luck in trying to find the brothers and sisters of William. I do have a copy of the will of Moses Sutton and it lists his children. I had found William and a John is close proximity to one another, but there are so many John Suttons. I will have to look into my info on what I have on James. I believe Moses was earlier married to Dolly Palmer. The name of David Palmer is a witness to will of Moses. There is a record of a James Sutton, son of Moses, who married Mary Cundiff and the security of this marriage is Abner Palmer. This record is in Lancaster County in 1792. There is a record of Winifred Cundiff in 1787 marrying Samuel Sutton. There is a Samuel Sutton son of John Sutton and Elizabeth Lunceford. I believe this John to be the son of Richard Sutton of Northumberland who died in 1702. Along with the names of Richard Sutton is the name of Dennis Conway as a witness to Richard's will, of which I have a copy. I have found the name of Conway and Sutton together is several places as early as 1623. I have no proof of any connection, but feel strongly that there must be one. Eager to hear any feed back and also to compare any notes you will share. I will be happy to supply copy of what I have put together. My Suttons from William who died in 1789 are then John who married Mary Hay, then his son William who married Sarah Higginbotham and at that point were in North Louiisiana. Of note other names in my research are Issac Sutton, Issac Bayse, Elizabeth Pope. The mother of Mary Hay who married John Sutton traces back to the name of Pope and there are connections back to Isle of Wight with the name of Bennett and others. Maybe all of this is too confusing. Please share names you know of in ancestry of James to see if any seem common to my research. Thanks so much for the reply. Billie Sutton Smith
