He is buried at the Old Savanah Cemetery in Jackson County North Carolina, not Jackson TN. The story of his death is as follows and is recorded as follows in the Jackson County Court house. " One day in 1832, John was standing just below his house with some other men, when one of them said that John could jump the rail fence in front of them flat footed. Well, he did jump it flat footed.About that time someone rode up on an old plug horse. Someone in the crowd said I'll bet Uncle John can jump that horse. Well, he just backed up about two steps and jumped that horse. When he hit the ground he was dead." This info is from Millie Sutton Painter's research. She said that this is exactly how they have his death recorded in the Jackson Co. Court House in Sylva, NC. I really don't know anything more on Aggie Lossiah either. My grandmother had wrote in her bible that John came from Rockinghamshire, England, but I don't know wher! e she got that from. John had a brother, Thomas William Sutton, he went to Alamance Co. after the war and another brother that was injured at Old Fort and left on his own, I don't know what his name was. They all fought in the Revolutionary War. I found on another genforum that Aggie was born in 1783 and that she was 19 when she married John in 1802, he was 72. After he died she married John Quilliams in 1835 in Cocke Co. TN. After that they think that she married Russell Parton. Hope this can be of some help. I am a descendant of Mitchell Sutton, son of John Sutton b. 4-2-1732.
