I was wondering if he might be the son of Joseph Sutton and grandson of Henry Sutton, whose will date 1805 notes a bequeath to Samuel, son of Joseph. I have no further link on his Samuel (gs of Henry) and it seems to fit. The Samuel in Ohio also names his first child Joseph which would keep with the usual naming patterns used.
