Because many times one Sutton clan INTERMARRIED w/another Sutton family (i've seen this numerous times w/in many of my various surnames)--also sometimes one THINKs a Sutton line is NOT related to another clan- but once one goes back far enough---we sometimes find that two thought SEPARATE Sutton lines actually came down from the SAME ORIGINAL PATRIARCH.
