    3. Published in the Greenville, SC - News August 24, 2004 Sunny Sutton Greenville Sunny Sutton, 71, husband of Jean Adel Miller Sutton, of 1171 Lakeview Drive, died Aug. 21, 2004. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Sadie Marie Goins. Mr. Sutton, a graduate of Zonn Polygraph Institute, served his community for many years as a police officer with the Greenville Police Department, a criminal investigator for the 13th Judicial Circuit, and was an investigator for the Department of Insurance. He had owned and operated Sunny Sutton International Investigative Service since 1968. He was a licensed private investigator, licensed polygraph examiner, and a forensic behavioral analyst. He was a certified instructor for law enforcement by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He enlisted in the Air Force at the age of fifteen and served on active duty for nine years. He served in the Korean War, spent 4-l/2 years in Japan as a military interpreter, and was a member of the first Combat Control Team. He was a parachutist and diver in the Air Force, and was a recipient of the Soldier's Medal. He was currently a Major in the South Carolina State Guard. He was a member of VUMS (Veterans of Underage Military Service), was a lifetime member of the Combat Control Association, and was a member of the American Polygraph Association. He held a black belt in Judo and Tae Kwon Do, and owned and operated the first Tae Kwon Do school in South Carolina. Mr. Sutton was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his sister, Mary Howie, of Kemp, Texas; a stepson, Jacob Hughes, of Taylors; a stepdaughter, Katherine Reed, and her husband, Adam, of Darby, Mont.; and a grandchild, Cooper Sutton Reed, of Darby, Mont. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jan Sutton. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Susan Crowell and the Rev. Shannon Mullen officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, following the service at the church.
