Published in the Des Moines, IA - Register 09/29/2003 Guy Sutton, 84, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home. Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 30 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Mr. Sutton was born in Forty Fort, PA and was the owner of Hoermann Press School Supply Company before retiring in 1981. He was a member of East Gate Masonic Lodge, Highland Park Christian Church, North High School Alumni Association (1938 graduate) and Johnny Johnson Sports Club. Guy sold Library books throughout the state of Iowa. He was official greeter at the Old School House at the Iowa State Fair from 1972 to 2000. He was known as "Mr. Guy" to thousands of children. He spent most of his life in Des Moines and was a volunteer at the Des Moines Community Playhouse. He is survived by his son, Steve Sutton of Perry; two granddaughters, Samantha Rush of Des Moines and Amy Denton of Des Moines; brother, Arthur Sutton of Storm Lake; his life-long friend, Jean Olmstead of Indianola; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Foster J. Sutton and his parents, Bea and Pappy Sutton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens.
