Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wkQBAIB/2459 Message Board Post: Franz Theodore Nitka was probably born about 1765, his father was probably a LT David Nitka. Franz was a Prussian official living in Bielsk in 1803 on the Polish border. His son, Carl, was born then. I have most of his descendants, but cannot verify his parents. He went to Koenigsberg (Kaliningrad today) when Napoleon's troops arrived in Bielsk. A family story, unverfied by history books, is that Franz was the interpreter at the Treaties of Tilsit since he spoke German, Polish, French, and Russian. Before going to Bielsk he was in Willenberg (Wielbark today) and in Johannisberg, E. Prussia (Picz today). Have his direct line down to me, but there must be more in Germany who might know who his parents were and where they came from.
