I've seen plenty of Sutton obituaries.....how about a independent "Sutton" reaching the age of 100!! Mary Sutton Eye of Garnett, Kansas will be celebrating her 100th birthday on April 29, 2002. An Open House in her honor will be held at the Garnett Senior Center on May 28 from 2-5 p.m.. Mary was born April 29, 1902 in Sutton Valley, Anderson County, Kansas, to John Franklin Sutton and Julia (Paradise) Sutton. Mary's grandfather (John Sutton) and great grandfather (James Sutton) were pioneer settlers of Sutton Valley. Mary graduated from Greeley High School in 1921. She has been chosen to be the honoree at the Greeley Alumni Banquet in May. Mary married Boyd Franklin Eye in 1924. To them were born 3 children, Pete and Frank Eye, and Lonnie (Eye) Proctor. Mary still lives at the home that she has lived at since 1971. She is a locally well-known pianist and still plays for the Garnett Rotarys twice monthly meetings.
