My gr-gr-grandfather was Eli Sutton. He married three different Cherokee girls..at different times, of course. From two of these came five children: Joshua Sutton b-1846, Levi Sutton b-1849, and Malinda Sutton Thornton Bowers (1851-1885), Robert Eli Sutton (1856-1896) (my gr-grandfather) and his sister, Sarah Ann Sutton Allen Martindale (1853-1907). All of the children were born and died in the Cherokee Nation West which is now Oklahoma. Eli Sutton was born somewhere in the south, possibly North/South Carolina or even Georgia. I have been searching unsuccessfully regarding Eli Sutton's origin, but no success on any of his beginnings. Could you put me in touch with your sources that you mentioned who had put together a good line of Suttons? Thanks.
