Published in the Peoria Journal Star, Sunday May 21, 2006 Robert C. Sutton, 83 of Peoria IL passed away Friday, May 19, 2006 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born 8/19/1922 in East Peoria IL the son of Cecil A. and Helen Brown Sutton. He married Dorothy Elsenbach on 9/28/1940 in Burlington IA. She survives. He is also survived by: John (Mary) Sutton of Peoria; Bruce (Darlene) Sutton of Loveland, CO; David (Karen) Sutton of Palmetto FL; 2 sisters: Shirley (Charles) Jett of Peoria and Karen (James) Bixby of Peoria; 4 brothers: Eugene (Shirley) of Peoria; Wayne (Ann) of Springfield IL ; Jack (Kathleen) of Centennial CO and Roger (Tammy) of Charles City IA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mr. Sutton was the former co-founder of Sutton Carpet Comp. He served in W.W.II as a Marine, where he was a Master Sergeant Aviation Specialist in the South Pacific. He was a member of: Forrest Hill United Methodist Church; 50 year member of Peoria Masonic Lodge #15; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, Mohammad Temple Shrine, where he was a member of the Director's Staff for many years. He enjoyed aviation and received his navigation certificate from Bradley University in Peoria. As a hobby he enjoyed raising horses for many years and was chairman of the Shrine Rodeo for several years. Visitation was Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7 :M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 10 am at Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home, Peoria IL. The Rev. Charlian Renner will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.
