Sutton, 66, Seymour, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, at his residence. He had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Sutton was retired from Cummins Engine Co. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Eagles. He served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division. He was an avid NASCAR fan and spent winters in Sebring, Fla. He lived most of his life in Jackson County. Born March 3, 1936, in Junction City, Kan., he was a son of Daniel N. Sutton and Minnie Honey Sutton, who both preceded him in death. On Dec. 27, 1963, in Seymour, he married Janet Hopper and she survives in Seymour. He also is survived by two daughters, Kimberly J. (Roger) Matern and Debbie Martin; four sons, Gregory D. (Brena) Sutton, Michael E. (Debbie) Sutton, Edward Sutton Jr., and Dennis Sutton; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard D. Sutton, Mooresville, Harold L. Sutton, Delaware, and Charles David Sutton, Maryland; a sister, Mary Catherine Sheek, Fort Myers, Fla.; two half-sisters, Alberta Sutton, Florida, and Sally Sutton Lancaster, Trafalgar; and a half-brother, Danny Sutton. He also was preceded by a brother, Raymond E. Sutton; three half-brothers, Walter S. Sutton, Robert H. Sutton and James H. Sutton; and three half-sisters, Edythe Sutton Madden, Alice Sutton Roberts and Helen Sutton Morris. The Rev. Gary Bechtel will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
