By way of introduction, my name is Dwight Arender. I am a grt-grt-grt grandson of Daniel Isaac Sutton, brother of John D. Sutton Jr. and James America Sutton. I have received bits and peices of information that was supposedly copied from John Davison Sutton's book History of Braxton County and Central West Virginia. I say supposedly copied because what I have received has been altered from the original text. Do you know where a copy of the text can be purchased. I do have a borrowed copy but would like one of my own. On another subject, I am very interested in information on what I have termed "Sutton's of The South". Seems to me that Daniel Isaac Sutton was perhaps one of the first Sutton's to migrate to the old Southwest, Alabama and Mississippi. He was in Opelousas, Louisiana as early as 1804. I am attempting to gather information on his descendants and wonder if you might be able to help. I have the original of a letter by the author, John Davison Sutton which he had written to his cousin, Camilia, in Vicksburg Mississippi. It is dated 1918, at which time he was most likely in the process of gathering information for his book. Camilia was the oldest of two sisters, the younger being Sarah Frances. They had an older brother named Henry Lanehart Creighton Sutton, who was my grt-grt grandfather. There was one other sister who was the daughter by Daniel's second wife. As far as I know, the four mention are the only children of Daniel. I would like to hear from you. I am in east Texas. Tell me how you and I are related.
