Published in the Wilmington, NC - Morning Star 2002-7-22 MR. ROBERT CLYDE "PETE" SUTTON, SR. Mr. Robert Clyde "Pete" Sutton, Sr., age 83, of Wilmington, N.C., died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Bladen County Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.C. He was born in Bladen County on May 4, 1919, the son of the late Ernest and Mary Gillespie Sutton. Mr. Sutton was owner and operator of Sutton Electric Company for many years and a long time and active member of Lake Forest Baptist Church. He was a member of the North Carolina Electrical Contractors Association, and an alumni of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Working was his hobby and he especially loved working in his garden. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and will not be forgotten. Surviving are his loving wife of over fifty-nine years, Mrs. Mary Pearl Rivenbark Sutton of the home; his children, R. C. "Bobby" Sutton, Jr. and wife Jackie, John Franklin Sutton of Wilmington, NC, Dale Sutton and wife Sherry of Castle Hayne, NC and Gale Sutton Karnes and husband Mark also of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Betty Sutton of Bat Cave, NC; seven grandchildren, LeAnne Montgomery and husband Adam, Charlie Sutton, Amanda Sutton, James Robert Karnes and wife Amanda, Jason Karnes, Melissa Sutton and Alicia Sutton; one great-grandchild, Kiersten Karnes; two special "sons", Pete and Joe Carlotti; along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Lake Forest Baptist Church by Reverend Randy Speight. Interment will follow in Sutton Family Cemetery, Tomahawk, NC, by Reverend Currie Long. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P. M.
