There were a lot of Higginbotham's around Bryceland in N. Louisiana where I came from. In fact I went to school with one. My Sutton's entered Louisiana from Mississippi around the 1840's. My great, great grandfather Thomas Sutton from around Fayette Mississippi died of a fever in 1830, leaving three sons John, my great grandfather, his brother Thomas later killed in battle of Mansfield in Civil War, and Stephen who evidently died before coming to Louisiana. My grandfather was named after that Stephen. Charles Irvin or Irving Sutton
