He was born in NC. about 1785, the sons were born in TN. By 1850, he has married a very young Martha Lee,( probably 15 years old) daughter of William & Phoebe (Polly) Underwood Lee. Since the oldest child William was b. abt. 1845, James Sutton, with two sons, was living in Wayne CO., MO when the 1840 census was enumerated. He was born in NC. about 1785, the sons were born in TN. By 1850, he has married a very young Martha Lee,( probably 15 years old) daughter of William & Phoebe (Polly) Underwood Lee.
