    1. Father Issues
    2. Hello, my name is Joseph Sutton. I'm from New Jersey. I'm 15 years old with little knowledge of my family. See, thing is, my mother and father got divorced when I was only a baby and so I've only really known my mother's side (not Sutton). The Sutton side of my family resides somewhere in Kansas and so if anyone is/knows of that part of the family, it'd be great for me to know. To be more specific, my father's name was Theodore Michael Sutton. His family is in Kansas presently and he and my mother were in the Navy. A few years ago he committed suicide and so the subject of that side of my family is very touchy (which is why I would rather ask here than ask my mom about this sort of thing.) If anyone knows anything about him, I'd love to know. I hope I said enough to single him out from any other Theodore Suttons... Also, if there's nothing known about him, then anyone in his immediate family would be nice (and hopefully someone here may be a person I'm looking for!) Thanks! -- Joe Sutton ________________________________________________________________________ Check Out the new free AIM(R) Mail -- 2 GB of storage and industry-leading spam and email virus protection.

    3. I also know the feeling, folks. It would seem that my 4ggrandfather, Phineas Sutton, was deposited on this earth by aliens in Allegheny Co., Elizabeth Township, sometime around 1700. He died there in 1835, outliving his son Aaron, my 3ggrandfather, by about 8 years. If he sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. BTW, I also have Ms. Suttons, but they're all from Claiborne, Washington, and Bolivar counties. 3. Dear Dennis, Thank-you for the information. My father was Dr. Leon Sutton, he passed away when I was 14 months old he was 32 at the time. I first stated that he passed in 1958, it was actually 1957. I have a suitcase of information on my father and that is it. The Leon Sutton you mention from the obit is my grandfather. I have always wondered about the Sutton's before me. Sincerely, Dorothy Sutton Carroll

    3. Hello! My great-great grandfather was George Washington Sutton who started out life in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Around 1875 he left home to work on a cattle ranch near Conroe, TX. Claimed to have met Sam Bass. He came back to Bienville Parish where he lived until the Depression started, then he moved his children and grandchildren to Harlingen, TX, for about 5 years so they could get jobs, then moved everybody back. I've often wondered about his connection with Texas. 1. Susan Sutton....daughter of Edmund
    2. Tami S
    3. I'm trying to put pieces of the puzzle together on trying to figure out who my great-grandmother, Susan Sutton is. A Susan Sutton was married to my great-grandfather, William J. Harris. From what I have gathered from reading other information, this Susan was born ~Oct. 1855 in TN. My great grandfather, William J. Harris was also born around 1853-54. They married 18 Jun 1883 in Jackson County, IL They had I believe, 8 children together: Minnie, Philip, Mabel, Ethel, Pearl, Earl, Ray, and Teddie. Earl is my grandfather. I am wondering if anyone has info in regards to the Susan Sutton who was the daughter of Edmund Sutton and Lucy (Harris) Sutton. Here is why I'm wondering if it is possibly the same Susan: There is a Susan that is listed in this paragraph from this website: http://sutton.org/issue19/macon.htm *"Now back to the children of the second marriage of the old Revolutionary soldier: Edmund, born in 1793, died in 1861, married Lucy Harris. Their children were: John Sutton, who went to Illinois; Susan and Jane, about whom nothing else is known."* Why I think there might be a possible connection and perhaps the same Susan, is because: 1. It is mentioned that John Sutton went to Illinois. 2. From this Jackson County Illinois site http://www.iltrails.org/Jackson/ if you look under the "Wills Online" and then the "Jackson County Probate Index" http://www.iltrails.org/Jackson/prodex.htm and search the "S" records for *Sutton http://www.iltrails.org/Jackson/pro39.htm* you will find listed: *Sutton, George L. John H. Sutton 60 2252 Nov 19, 1908 * So a John H. Sutton, was the administrator of the estate of George L. Sutton. So is this John H. Sutton possibly the same John Sutton from TN (son of Edmund) who went to IL? It is just so coincidental that this name falls into the Jackson County IL area....the same area my great grandma, Susan Sutton, married my great grandpa at, and John happens to have a sister Susan who there was no information on. Also, through Edmund Sutton had a half-brother named George (which would have been the uncle to John). Is it possible that this is the same line of Sutton's since the names for all are so similar? 2. Here is their address April 4, 1999 Allene & Autry Oates 1800 Granada Blvd. Lot 12 Box 10 Greenwood, MS 38930 Dear Allene, Late last year, I got the attached e-mail (copied back & front) from Emmett Channell. The next page is my answer and you can see I referred him to you as I was pretty sure this was your line. He may have already have been in contact with you. I intended to contact you, but he said he was confirming some information, so I stuck this copy in a book and forgot about it until now. Also enclosed are group sheets I created from his memo. I have enclosed an extra copy of each of the group sheets. If you have time, would you fill in any missing information and send the extras back to me in the enclosed envelope. I hope all is well with you. I get your reunion announcements and always hope I can get away, but never do. I have been working very long hours at my real job and spending a lot of time on church work and my Cox family history. Regards, Les Sutton
