Sutton died March 31 (in Windsor, Henry County, Missouri) after a brief illness of about four days. He spent a greater part of his married life in Osage County, Missouri. About two years ago he moved to Windsor, Missouri and lived there until his death March 31. He was in his 84th year, fifty of which were spent in the service of his maker. Remains were taken to his former home in Osage County, Missouri, and interred in the family cemetery. Benjamin C. Sutton's will was first admitted to probate in Henry County, Missouri, a transcript of record in Anderson County, Kansas., indicating he owned property in both counties. He was the donor of two acres upon which the Sutton Valley Methodist church was located near Greeley, Kansas. Benjamin C. Sutton is buried in the McKnight Family cemetery, Osage County, Missouri; his second wife, Lucinda is buried next to him. Benjamin was my great great uncle. Philip Sutton

Danny: I noticed the SUBJECT LINE changed recently - must have corresponded with the server change. It changed from SUTTON-D to SUTTON Digest. This broke my rules set up in Outlook for handling the emails. This caused the messages to NOT pass the SPAM filters , fortunately I caught it manually. If the FROM Address changed in any way I bet that's also contributing to the large decrease. Jim Sutton SUTTON SEARCHERS Website

Because many times one Sutton clan INTERMARRIED w/another Sutton family (i've seen this numerous times w/in many of my various surnames)--also sometimes one THINKs a Sutton line is NOT related to another clan- but once one goes back far enough---we sometimes find that two thought SEPARATE Sutton lines actually came down from the SAME ORIGINAL PATRIARCH. Is anyone on the list connected to John T. Sutton and Ella Martin who married 16 July 1891 in Lincoln Co., Louisiana? I have been trying to find my John Thomas Sutton born 25 Nov 1860 in St. Leonard, Devon, England. He came to Memphis, Tennessee, around 1872-74 and was there until 1885. He was a house painter, along with his half brothers, Henry James Smith and George Smith. He lived with them and his parents, Sophia Spiller Smith Sutton and Samuel Sutton at 107 Vance St. Sophia left Memphis after 1884 and died in 1901 in Smith Co., Texas at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and John Way, in Smith Co., Texas. George and Henry James Smith left Memphis after the 1880 census. George moved to Brooklyn, NY and I think I've found Henry James in South Australia. John also had a nephew, son of his half-sister, Harriett, who also lived with the family in Memphis. His name was Albert Smith and he also worked as a painter. Albert eventually went to live with his sister, Leah Smith Haslem, in Oakland, CA. So the family really scattered after Memphis. I have not found Samuel after 1886 in Memphis. I found John T. Sutton and Ella Martin recently and since John was a painter there wondered if he could be the son of Samuel and Sophia. I would be pleased to hear from anyone concerning this John Thomas Sutton. My small part is this, other than he might have moved and been a lawyer in New York. My grandfather was Albert Lawrence Sutton - no specifics. My dad was Robert Dixie Sutton, not sure of exact birth year, but approx 1904.I'm told he was from Virginia, he was an officer in the Navy. His 1st marriage produced 2 daughters, 1 named Carol or Carolyn or Caroline, the other Barbara Jean That's all I know Thanks, Mike Sutton

My Hannah family married into the Sutton family in Kansas. Am interested in learning if this is the same Sutton line.
