    3. hello, in response to the post re charles jackson sutton, have you determined the origin of the middle name jackson? there was in mansfield twp., burlington co., nj a daniel sutton b. ca. 1680 died 1746 same place). he married mary jackson and several of the children carried the middle name jackson. john jackson sutton moved from nj to ulysses, new york where he died 1809. one of his sons, john sutton served as assemblyman in ulysses in 1817-1819. this same john sutton moved to live with his son in norwalk, ohio where he died 1840. a son of john sutton's was named andrew jackson sutton, b. 1815. his mother was sarah schuyler. this is all probably a coincidence but know this line moved from nj to ny. i am sorry i have no info on a charles jackson sutton. irene

I have contacted Rootsweb and found my problem is not unique and maybe worst than originally thought. the following is a partial response to my query; > When a large ISP such as AOL bounces RootsWeb mail, SmartList would > only > > unsub one address at a time. Mailman works differently in that each > address > is assigned a score when mail bounces, and it will remove all the > addresses > at that ISP when the threshhold score is reached. As you can see the larger the list the bigger the problem becomes. Should you suddenly stop receiving this list please check with me to ensure your not inadvertently tossed off the list.     1. [SUTTON] Elias Sutton Family

    3. I am a descendant of Elias Sutton Jr. . Elias was the son of Elias Sutton and Elizabeth Ezell Sutton from NC somewhere around the Taylors Bridge area. I have found them in Sampson Co, and a couple of other counties in NC. Elias Sutton Jr married Edith Bryant and had three children, I think all born in NC. For some unknown reason Elias Jr sold his land and left NC and ended up in Columbia County AR. somewhere around 1860. All of his children married there. His only son Martin Vanburen Sutton was my Greatgrandfather. Martin married Alcey Elizabeth Britt and they had one daughter Jane Adeline Sutton , my Grandmother. Martin was killed in the Civil War (?) but his body was never returned home. Elias Sutton Jr married again in AR but I'm not sure of his death date or Edith Sutton's death date. His father was Samuel Sutton and mother was Sophia Spiller Smith Sutton. John was with the family in Memphis, Tennessee on the 1880 US Census and was on the Memphis city directories until one published in 1885. I have not found him since unless he is the John T. Sutton who married Ella Martin in Lincoln Co. Louisiana 16 July 1891. John's father, Samuel, and grandfather, Thomas, were born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. I would be pleased to hear from anyone connected to this family.
