>From the information I have George Hanks had a whole family before he met and married Angeline. If Im' correct, he married Luraine Hill in 1791 and had William, Frances, Nancy, Sarah, Elizabeth, George, Eli, Hansford, Joiasy, and Allen. He married Angeline Mathews Sutton 2 OCT 1846 and they had Elija in 1850. George died in Sep 1859. Angeline was much young then George. She was born in Kentucky cir. 1811-1812. I would appreciate it very much being notified if this information is not correct. I always wondered about George Hanks having his last child at the age of 77! Thanks Liz
I found Angeline living with George Hanks on the 1850 Federal census for Anderson, Texas. Angeline (and Joseph Suton's) children who were living with them at the time. The Sutton children were John, James, Thomas, Mary, George and Martha. They had one child together, Elija Hanks, in 1850. Someone on the list sent me where John is buried - Antioch Cemetery, Anderson, Texas. Dates are 04 MAR 1932 - FEB 1869 James Sutton died and is buried at Andersonville, Georgia Thomas Sutton died at the Battle of Bull Run and is buried in Virginia George Sutton raised his family in Wisconsin after the war. I think the death date indicates James indicates he didn't die in the war. I do know when John was 17Angeline send him and all their brothers and sisters up the Mississippi to live with a grandmother in either Illinois or Wisconsin. John soon left Wisconsin and went back south to never be heard of again.
While searching for my Suton's I post a lot of information and I find so others can share and I'm usually pretty good at making sure it indicates what state. In this case I included the web address so searchers could do directly there and the site indicates what state. These records came from the State of Illinois. Thanks, Liz

Cemetery Inscriptions of Orange County, Indiana CANE CREEK CEMETERY Cane Creek Christian Church and cemetery are located in the north west corner of the township, on land which was entered by Thomas Cox. The Cox and Flick families, early settlers from Kentucky, arrived on Cane Creek on April 10, 1816. Other pioneers of this locality were Harmons, Pinnicks, Drakes and Winingers, and they have left numerous descendants. This century-old-burying ground contains more than a hundred unmarked graves.
