    3. Looking for information on Suttons from Atlantic Canada. Our information doesn't go back very far, and most of our info is anecdotal rather than backed up by evidence, but we can only go back a few generations. This Sutton family moved around a lot from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia through to Saint John, New Brunswick where most of the descendants of John C Sutton now reside. I'll gather up the info of what I have so far and post it, to see if we fit into someone's jigsaw puzzle. CROSSVILLE CHRONICLE Obituary Obituary's for October 1998 JAMES MILTON SUTTON Funeral services for James Milton Sutton, 76, of Monterey, who passed away Oct. 8, 1998, were held Oct. 11 from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home, with burial in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors were conducted by Monterey VFW, Post 6277, of which Mr. Sutton was a member. He was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Monterey, the son of John L. and Beulah Cook Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a member of the Monterey First Baptist Church, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He received many decorations and citations for his participation in battles and campaigns in Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, central Europe and the Rhineland. He was a member of the Monterey Masonic Lodge, 751 F&AM. He was a former employee of Tennessee Central Railroad, and was a retired engineer with the B&O Railroad. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruth Whittaker Sutton; daughter and son-in-law, Mary John and Douglas Woerl of Dayton, OH; grandson, Jason Woerl of Dayton, OH; and brothers, Freddie Sutton of Monterey, and Carl and Buford Sutton, both of Crossville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Talmage and Joe Sutton. Pallbearers were Joe Wilson, Ron Helton, Jimmy Barnwell, Chris Almonrod, Eric and Christopher Higdon, and Charlie, Butch, John and Shane Sutton. The Revs. Gerrald Bland and Dewitt Sampley officiated. Memorials may be made to the Monterey First Baptist Church Building Fund. Horner Funeral Home in Monterey was in charge of the arrangements.
