Mrs. Katherine Noble Sutton, 92, of 1190 Addison Ave. entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 15, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 29, 1909, in Barnwell, S.C., to the late Jack and Louise Wade. Katherine Sutton, better known as "Kat" to many of her family and friends, lived most of her life in Winston-Salem, where she worked 44 years for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She was a faithful member for over 54 years of Shiloh Baptist Church. Katherine loved to praise the name of God and empower others, through God, to be their best. She was a faithful and loyal member of United Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board. She was blessed to receive the name of "Mother Sutton" by her devoted church family. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Ernestine Stevenson of the home, Audrey Sutton of Mitchellville, Md., and Debris McConnell of Winston-Salem; two sons, Leon Sutton of the home and Bobby Sutton of Atlanta, Ga.; a loving sister, Gladys Ward, of Pontiac, Mich.; a devoted and loving son-in-law, Preston McConnell Sr.; 28 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, at the United Cornerstone Baptist Church with Dr. J. Ray Butter officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
