Mr. Sutton was born in Pleasanton, Texas to Oklahoma Territory and Ruby Reed Sutton on September 28, 1923. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 in the chapel of Eeds Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the chapel of Eeds Funeral Home with Tim Wooten officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Cemetery, Van Vleck, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife, Rita Loyd Sutton of Lockhart, his daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ann and Roxy Robinson of Lockhart, his brother, R.D. In 1904 the Eastern Cherokees won a million dollar judgment against the U.S. because of its violations of the treaties of 1835-6 and 1845. The payments were to go to all living persons who had been members of the tribe at the time of the treaties, or to their descendants. The Miller files contain about 46,000 applications submitted by members of the tribe, or their descendants. Lists all applications alphabetically, and provides application numbers.
