I had run across the 1850 census with John Sutton with a son William. The 1850 census says he is 14 yrs. at the time. The 1860 census states my William as 23 years. There is a one year difference. Granted the censuses could have been taken at different times of the year which could explain the age discrepancy. But I need more hard proof to show without a doubt John is William's father. If you happen to run across anything in your research, I would be happy to hear about it. If I run across anything about Samuel, I will let you know as well. Sincerely, Angela (Sutton) Tielking

I am looking for all his children also. At least one was born to a woman he lived with. I have Nancy has having died in Rockwood Michigan but my only source is Social Security Index.     3. Published in the Killeen, TX Daily Herald 2002-6-3 Everett Jerry Sutton HARKER HEIGHTS--Services for retired Lt. Col. Everett G. Jerry Sutton, 84, of Harker Heights will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights with full military honors. Burial will be in Killeen Memorial Park. Lt. Col. Sutton died Thursday, May 30, in a Temple hospital. He was born in Parthenon, Ark., to George H. and Leota Casey Sutton. He graduated from Harrison, Ark., High School, Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas law school. He entered into the military in 1941 and retired in 1988 after 29 years. He had practiced law in the Harker Heights and Killeen area since retirement. He was a member of the VFW Post of Harker Heights, DAV of Harker Heights and had been a POW. I do not know much about the Sutton family. I am actually researching Samuel Sutton's wife's line (Wallace). However, in the 1850 census, Martin County, Rutherford Twp. in the listing for the family of John Sutton is a William Sutton, age 14. The only other William Sutton in the 1850 census, Martin County is only two years old. The Samuel Sutton I am looking for is also listed in this household, age 22. Samuel and William then may have been brothers. I have not looked for probate information, etc. for this family. There may be some record at the death of John Sutton concerning his family. You may already have the information from the census. I believe John's first wife may have died before 1850. I do not know what happened to John. Hope this helps. Elizabeth

I wanted to know if the Masons keep records that would be of genealogical value, and I wanted to know how to contact the Masons in Mississippi. Thanks to the replies I received, I was able to track down my ancestor's brother, Stephen S. Sutton, who was a Mason in MS. Unfortunately, it turned out that the Mason's membership records contain no genealogical info.
