One possibility for Irish research is through the Godfrey Memorial Library, which only costs $35 per year and has a wealth of information, including an Irish research link. http://www.godfrey.org/ Shirley in Tucson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Sutton" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 02, 2004 5:37 PM Subject: [SUTTON] Andrew Sutton > Is there anyone who can give me any hints as to where I can research > births in Ireland in 1797 - 98?

Hi to all Suttons out there. Is there anyone who can give me any hints as to where I can research births in Ireland in 1797 - 98? I have my gggrandfather Andrew Sutton coming to the US about 1810 with 2 brothers. I cannot find any ship lists they are on or his brothers names. Where to look. Also if anyone has the name of areally good geneologist in Ireland, please let me know. Thom Sutton [email protected]

THANK YOU PAT SUTTON THURMAN This won't help, but it is ironic. My father was William Sutton (middle name Fay) born in 1909 in Towns County, GA. The irony is my name is Pat Sutton (Burgess). Very interesting isn't it? Pat

No, I'm afraid none of these names mean anything to me. I know basically nothing about any Suttons except my great great grandmother who married a Rodgers in 1851. She died young and I've only recently learned the names of her parents. I'm sorry; I wish I could help. jm ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 29, 2004 6:38 PM Subject: [SUTTON] Re: SUTTON-D Digest - James H. Kimberly- I was looking over your posts and was wondering if any of these names mean anything to you? Sarah Sutton is buried and the date on her head stone is 1892 - 1932. She was married to Henry Harrington. Also I found a couple of graves with the names of Alfred Albert Sutton 1885 - 1962 and David F. Sutton 1870 - 1949 who were brothers of Cyrus Tillman Sutton (1879-1929). I have a James H. Sutton (b:1829 in Huron, Indiana) as the father of these children. James H. was married to Emily Rachel Girking. I am hoping that this might match up with something you have found! Thanks for checking! Debra Sutton Hollister

Through some great people who answered my first query, I have been able to nail down some good information on my great great grandmother Ann Lewis SUTTON, daughter of John Carter Sutton and his second wife Elizabeth Page Pendleton Sutton. Ann Lewis Sutton was born in Virginia on Feb. 21, 1830, and had these siblings (and maybe more): a.. William Carter Sutton b.. Betty Burwell Sutton c.. Sarah Jane Sutton d.. John Sutton e.. Hugh Carter Sutton f.. Edmond Pendleton Sutton g.. Norborne Sutton, b. 1823 h.. Lucy Carter Sutton, b. 1827 i.. Patrick Henry Sutton, b. 1828 j.. Robert Walker Sutton, b. 1832 Ann Lewis Sutton married Abner Leroy Rodgers on Sept. 21, 1851, in Lauderdale County, TN. Her first son, Preston Walker Rodgers, was born in TN in 1852, probably in Lauderdale County. Her second son, Page Pendleton Rodgers, was born in north Mississippi in 1853. Ann Lewis Sutton died March 1, 1854, and is buried in rural Tate County, Mississippi. (The actual Rodgers Cemetery might be in Marshall County, MS; it's kind of on the Tate-Marshall county line and the cemetery is in both county cemetery lists.) The location of the family cemetery is in an overgrown pasture about 40-50 miles south of Memphis, TN. I am interested in finding out more about Ann's ancestry. Can someone provide me with information on John Carter Sutton and Elizabeth Page Pendleton Sutton? Where are they buried? Who were their parents, etc.? Also, can anyone recommend some fairly complete Sutton family histories that would have this line in it and would have documentation? And tell me how to get such a history. If anyone reading this has any of these Rodgers connections, I'd really love to hear from you. I'm expecting great things from this query since my first one was so successful. It's terrific to be able to put the information left by my mother together with information from others and learn, among other things, where some of our family names came from. My email address is [email protected] Thank you so much. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
