I think his parents were Isaac Sutton and Elizabeth Ford. He married Alabama Rogers about 1857. She was b. 1841 in Hamilton county, TN, to James A. Rogers and Sarah Elizabeth Holloway. I have quite a few names on the Rogers side but nothing on the Sutton side. I would love more information and a bit of history on both sides. Thanks for any help!

It is found in my family line. We can trace it back to Horn, Germany, in the late 1700's. The family names are Christoph, Peter Paul, Jon Georg, and Jacob. If you have any of these names in your line, I would be interested in reading your reply. Thank You

I have a Joseph Sutton in my tree, my Great Granfather, who was born c1885, either in Bray, Wicklow or Dublin, I'm not sure, he may have been married to an Elizabeth. He had 8 children that I know of, John Joseph, my Grandfather, born 1910 in Bray, Thomas Sutton, born c1912, Kevin, born c1914, Peter, born c1915, Jeremiah, born c1917, Patrick, born c1919, Elizabeth, born c1923 and Anne, born c1925. I know very little about the Suttons, as there are not many still alive to ask and obtaining records is a nightmare, so if this is any help, then please get in touch, as I'm very interested in finding out more.

Simpson's father was L D Sutton and he was a Baptist minister in Williamsburg. In 1920 Simpson was living with son Lorenzo and his wife Dovey and Olive lived with Andy and his wife Anne, this was in much later later years ard 1910 or 1920. However they were right next door to each other. L D give the infor on both Olive and Simpson death cert. As I said Dovey said she took care of her father n law. In his pension statement he said he and Olive divorced and then said kind of maby were seperated. This family is well documented in Williamsburg as all born there and died there. He was very active in the GAR. His daughter Arah is our lineage. Dow and Dovies kids had some names I cannot make out handwriting on 1920 census, one I think is Ransom a son. If I can give you anymore info just ask. Diane

    1. Re: [SUTTON] George Washington Sutton
    2. I'm sure there are many George Washington Sutton's. My Granduncle is George Washington Sutton but born in the 1850s. His dad fought in Civil War. In the 1800s I find that many people were named after great men. My GGG Grandfather Levi Lawler and his son Isaac Lawler fought under Andrew Jackson in the Creek Indian war in what is now Alabama. Also along was Sam Houston and Davey Crockett. The Houston has come down through the family since that time and is still being used in the young ones. They both received Indian land for serving back then. Charles Irvin Sutton
