I am researching a family of HELEN HAY, b. 1882, dau of JOHN HAY and MARY "NICOL" of Forfar. Here is what I have in my notes for HELEN HAY/WILLIAM INNES, who married in 1802. Their son JAMES INNES m. HELEN REID. (One of their children was "ANN REID INNES." I seem that you have an ANN REID SUITIE in your line, my HAY ancesters were from Forfar. Is your HAY family related to my HAY family. My notes: Helen Hay, was likely the Helen Hay born June 19, 1782, and christened June 21, Forfar, Angus, Scotland, daughter of John Hay and Mary "Nicol." Helen was married on November 27, 1802, to William Innes. And, they had at least two children: James Innes (b. 1803), and William James Innes (b. 1807). She would have been 20 at the time of their marriage. She is found in the 1841 Census, living on Peter Street, Dundee, Angus, Scotland, living with, or close to, her son James Innes, wife Helen (Reid), and their children. It appears that our ancestor, Helen Hay, widow of William Innes, labourer, was buried in the Howff, Dundee, Angus, Scotland. The death records indicate that she was born in Forfar, and died January 16, 1842, of asthma, age 62. This would indicate that she was born about 1780, which fits with other records." Thanks in advance for any info w/connections and/or suggestions! Sincerely, Marilyn Arnold Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
