    3. Pam, I'm not sure if this family fits in, but I have a possible Thomas PHILLIPS bapt 19 Jul 1723 AS s/o William PHILLIPS & Mary FARR and in turn was the s/o William PHILLIPS & Elizabeth MOORE, which I think you will link into our line :-) Thomas married Mary HARLEY 11 Jan 1740/41 SC among their 11 children was son Thomas bapt 21 Sept 1750 SC, George bapt 7 Nov 1756 SC & William bapt 9 Apr 1758 AS Also found William GEERY who married Susanna PHILLIP b1747 d/o William PHILLIPS & Ann WHALES, this could be one, because Susanna was the gt. grand-daughter of William PHILLIPS & Elizabeth MOORE. Does this sound feasable? Best wishes, Frances On 09/09/2013 07:17, PMR wrote: > Chapter 7 of "The Smugglers" by Lord Teignmouth and Charles G > Harper (published 1973) has this, among other things, to say about the > Ruxley Gang in Hastings in the 18th century. > > Thirteen men were indicted in the Admiralty Court at the Old Bailey on Oct > 30 1769 for piracy and murder on the high seas, namely: Thomas PHILLIPS, > Elder and Younger, William & George PHILLIPS, Mark CHATFIELD,, Robert WEBB, > Thomas & Samuel AILSBURY, James and Richard HYDE, William GEARY alias > JUSTICE alias George WOOD, Thomas KNIGHT & William WENHAM and capitally > convicted; of these, four - Thomas AILSBURY, William GEARY, William WENHAM & > Richard HYDE - were hanged in the Tower of London at Execution Dock on Nov > 27 1769. > > Thomas AILESBURY was the first husband of my 3 x ggm, Dorothy > née PHILLIPS (who subsequently married Thomas DANIEL through whom I > descend). > > I notice that there are four men named PHILLIPS - Thomas > PHILLIPS the Elder, Thomas PHILLIPS the Younger, William PHILLIPS and George > PHILLIPS. > > Can anyone help in finding out where these PHILLIPS guys fit > into the large PHILLIPS family in Hastings please?
