The latter was definitely inherited from my mother who had the same feature; she was additionally a very competent violinist; I have some useful dexterity in my hands and have never found these deformities to be any problem. It may even be that they enable the tips of my fingers to come together more naturally and so be competent at delicate manipulative tasks. -- Tim Powys-Lybbe tim@powys.org for a miscellany of bygones: http://powys.org/

    3. Patreece, Both my middle fingers bend outwards. I'm a pianist, and was once told that it was practising at an early age that caused this deformity. I was never convinced by this explanation, although neither of my parents had it, so it certainly wasn't inherited. 3. Hi Tim, surely we all have some abnormalities in our bone structure. My right middle finger doesnt lay flat and is bent outwards at the top which causes my ring finger to slightly overlap it at the top My little fingers tend to bend inwards slightly at the top joint and so did my mothers as I remember it, but havent looked at any other member of my family. Come to that my right leg is shorter than my left by about half and inch as is one arm and my hip is twisted but not noticeably by anyone else. I dont look or feel odd. My feet are slightly odd sized. havent a clue if that is genetic but I suspect many people are the same judging by the shoeshop assistants remarks if you mention it. BTW I am 81 but only admit to 60! LOL. . Eileen.(nee Northeast) born in Brighton. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Powys-Lybbe" <tim@powys.org> To: <SUSSEX-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 11, 2013 1:15 AM Subject: Re: [SXP] Bent fingers > On 10 Nov at 22:14, Patreece Palmer <arthur.patreece@gmail.com> wrote: > >> Some while ago ( several years!) someone on the list asked if anyone >> from Sussex had the disfigurement of bent little fingers in their >> family.
