Hi Stella In the UK the census is not taken on the door step as it is in the US Here a form is left a week or so in advance of the census day It could of course be filled in at any point along the way until collected the day or so after the appointed census day Whilst a few were taken verbally when the householder was illiterate and was unable to find help from a friend or neighbour to fill in the schedule, these were few compared to the many who filled them in as requested The most common occurrence I have found of people in two places are mariners, their wives seem to have entered them as head of household, even when at sea But there are many mistakes in the census for a multitude of reasons Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 23/12/2013 08:28, Stella Stanger wrote: > > > Hi .
