Hello Listers, My ancestor HENRY JOHNSON, who was christened at Steyning in 1705, was still alive, residing at Broadwater, and signing deeds regarding property in 1794. However, I have been unable to locate a Will, determine the date of death, or locate his place of burial. His son and heir, another Henry Johnson of Waldron & Uckfield, who was christened at Arundel @ 1738, died and was buried at Uckfield on December 30, 1798. His Will, dated December 6, 1797, includes several properties including Truely Manor and farm at Edburton, which were previously the property of his late father Henry Johnson. Somewhere, there must be hidden records concerning the HENRY JOHNSON, who, in 1794, at 89 years of age, was reported to be late of Horley, Surrey, but now of Broadwater, Sussex, and was still involved in deeds concerning East Sussex properties. ( See Mittell / Browne/ Johnson on the A2A.) Any ideas concerning this family mystery, would be greatly appreciated. George Johnson. gwrj@shaw.ca
