Many thanks to all who replied to my query. I have the details of the family - Marriage certs etc, but am specifically looking for the Baptism of Elizabeth. The Birth Cert says Elizabeth Friar Burton. However, my Elizabeth is Bessy (Elizabeth) Flora Burton, and I can not find any seperate birth for an Elizabeth Flora Burton in Sussex which is where the censuses say that she says she was born, Eastbourne specifically. No baptisms of Burtons at either Eastbourne or Easebourne. Both born 1849 and other circumstantial evidence matches up. The baptism is important as it may sort out the name for me. There is nothing in the ancestry of Elizabeth, daughter of James and Mary Jane which would prompt the use of this second name, no people named Friar that I can find. It may be that the Registrar misheard. The baptism would confirm this or not as the case may be. One way or another I need to find it.
