It would appear Edward Jenner was convicted and sentenced to 15 years at Lewes quarter sessions in February 1844 and was transported on board the "Maria Somes" which left in April 1844 and arrived Hobart Van Diemans Land 30th July 1844. A copy of the ships indent on arrival at Hobart in Tasmania will provide a good deal of information with regards to appearance, tatoos etc, as well as a brief description of his conviction. A google of the ship's name may throw up other researchers of convicts on board for that voyage of 1844.
