Does anyone know in which year the A259 road from Eastbourne to Bexhill was built? It replaced the old Barnhorne Road, which used to wind its way across the marshes. Remnants of the old road can still be seen on either side of the A259 at about the turn-off for the villages of Hooe, Ninfield, and Battle. >From old correspondence, it must have been completed before 1936.
