    3. Dear Listers Could SKS please do a look up in the 1871 Census for a Miriam Millham, b abt 1844 in Beckley, Sussex. I would like her husband's name please. She is a widow in 1881 and she had remarried her employer before 1901. She should have a son William with her. He should only be about 1 or less. Thank you. Regards Judy Berntsen New Zealand

    3. Hi Judy, According to FreeBMD a George MILLAM and a Miriam CATT both married in the same Quarter ( 4th Qtr.1867) in the Battle Registration District. The reference for both is Vol.2b Page 94. At first I could not find a marriage for a MILLHAM or MILHAM to a Miriam, so I looked for any Miriam's born in the Beckley Registration District (which is Rye) between 1843 and 1845. I found Miriam CATT born 1st Qtr.1844 Rye District, and also a Miriam LEAVER born 3rd Qtr.1844. I then searched for possible marriages for them both...........and hit the jackpot. I had not previously tried to find a MILLAM, so it just goes to show that every possible spelling must be applied. Of course, this does not guarantee they married each other, but I should think it's a very strong possibility. A George MILHAM died in Rye District in 1st Qtr.1871 (bet.Jan & March) aged 25. Which of course further supports the possibility, and explains why he wasn't on the 1871 census.
