    1. [SXP] Harry Escott (1859-1948)
    2. I am gathering information on Harry Escott, a noted jockey and horse trainer, who road and trained horses for the Grand National around 1895-1919. He died in Hove 23 March 1848 at the age of 91. I have him on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census record and have found his marriage to Annie Pettit (1884) and Julia Skinner (1888). The census records give conflicting birthplaces. 1881 says Hull, Yorkshire and the others Blandford, Dorset. I am trying to find his parentage andany living descdendants. Can anyone help? 3. Hi Gordon, I have had a quick look on Ancestry for 1861 and 1871 and cannot find him. As you have details of his marriages you should have his father's name - this may help to find him. There are a few possible births on FreeBMD - Escott seems to be a West Country name so I would go with Blandford (or somewhere near there) as his birth place. let me know what else you have and I will have another look. cheers, Anne > From: gordonhillman@sympatico.ca> To: SUSSEX-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Date: Fri, 7 Dec 2007 15:39:49 +0000> CC: gordonhillman@sympatico.ca> Subject: [SXP] Harry Escott (1859-1948)> > I am gathering information on Harry Escott, a noted jockey and horse > trainer, who road and trained horses for the Grand National around > 1895-1919.
