Hi Gordon, Harry ESCOTT was the subject of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography "Life of the Day" a few months ago. Normally details of birth and early life are cited at the beginning and survivors (wife, children, etc.) are identified at the end of each bio. The web address is: _http://www.oup.com/oxforddnb/info/_ (http://www.oup.com/oxforddnb/info/) One can sign up to receive The "Life of the Day" for free but you will need to access the Dictionary in order to obtain a copy of his bio. I'm sure you can access it in your local library or perhaps another lister with a subscription can send it to you? Hope that helps! He was a very interesting man, I only wish I'd saved the bio! He died in Hove 23 March 1848 at the age of 91. I have him on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census record and have found his marriage to Annie Pettit (1884) and Julia Skinner (1888). The census records give conflicting birthplaces. 1881 says Hull, Yorkshire and the others Blandford, Dorset. I am trying to find his parentage andany living descdendants. Can anyone help?
