    1. [SXP] Searching for child of Mary BRAY & Edw. BLACKMAN b1821 in Mayfield/Wartling
    2. Hello Listers! I have a Bastardy Order -dated 21 August 1821- for the Parish of Mayfield Sussex in which the unborn child of Mary BRAY ( big with child at the time) was acknowledged by it's father, Edward BLACKMAN of Wartling Sussex. The Mother was also said to be of Wartling. Edward BLACKMAN posted a bond to cover maintenance of the child whose baptism I did not find at either Mayfield or Wartling Parish Church. Edward (1784 Wartling- 1856 W) was the brother of my greatx3 grandfather, William BLACKMAN (1796 Wartling- 1837 Wartling, Surgeon of Boreham). I have checked the 1841 and 1851 Census' but have not found a possible male or female match for the child, nor a likely Mary BRAY. It is not possible to search on the IGI for an unnamed BRAY child of Mary BRAY. If Some Kind Soul would look for a candidate on the BVRI I would appreciate it!!! Also, if someone would check the SFHG Marriage Index for a marriage for Mary BRAY, I would appreciate it!! Anyone with any other possible candidates, please contact me! Thanks very much! 3. Hi Joanee, The only 2 Mary Brays married after 1821 on SMI were 7/07/1827 to Ezekiel Smith and 18/05/1829 to William Crittenden - both at Hollington (now part of Hastings). It is possible that either or both died before 1841. hth, Anne > From: JMBecker@aol.com> Date: Sat, 24 Nov 2007 10:45:08 -0500> To: SUSSEX-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Subject: [SXP] Searching for child of Mary BRAY & Edw.
