Paul, I'm not sure Free CEN covers every census for every location. I think it's done county by county on a volunteer basis, so each group will work a different speeds. If Charles Pritchard lived 1833 -1900, he logically should appear in every census from 1841. So it's more likely he's been mistranscribed than missed. I'd look around for a local library or FHS centre that offers free access to Ancestry or Find My Past. Find My Past will allow a basic search, which is good for identifying possibilities, but you have to pay for full details Ancestry is good with wild cards. So you could try things like cha* *ard, which allows for variants like Chas, and a variety of surnames. In 1851, I suspect James Davey might step brother or brother in law. I'd have to see the entry and other family members. Peter.
