    3. Hello all, I will be in Brighton briefly tomorrow and was thinking that I might like to try to locate my family there. I have a photograph of the grave of my great grandparents (James Thomas SHELL 1859-1940 and Louisa Augusta HALLON 1861-1945 his wife and some of their children including my grandfather Rupert John SHELL 1893-1947. My late uncle told me that the grave was "in the Main Cemetery near Elm Grove" which I assume from Google is probably Woodvale. I see from their website that there are some details at "Woodvale Lodge" but this is shut on a Saturday, but I thought I'd ask if anybody had any knowledge please of whether any of the local family history societies had collected information from which a look up might be possible, or whether the record office which is open might have some details of this and whether there are any other connected SHELLs or HALLONs in the area. Thanks in advance Peter

    3. I don't know much about the Brighton Cemeteries, but the last time that I enquired about a grave plot at Woodvale Cemetery, there was a charge of £15 for them to examine the register and find the entry plus £5 to provide a map showing the location of the plot. That was three years ago and so I expect that the charges have gone up since then. At that time, all the cemetery registers for Woodvale were still held by Brighton & Hove City Council and they had no plans to deposit them. I have just checked the ESRO catalogue on The Keep's web site and there is no mention of these registers. Best wishes, Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex
