Hi Nick, Sounds a bit too old imo. The IGI is good for getting an indicator of areas that your family were in in certain periods but can't be relied to pinpoint individuals. Some parishes have their records added to the IGI, others do not. There could well be another generation of LEOPARDs in a parish adjacent to Hamsey that do not appear on Familysearch. In addition have you checked variant spellings? Apparnetly LIBBARD, LIPPARD, etc., are all different spellings of the same name. I don't know if you have seen it but McKinleys "Surnames of Sussex" says that LEOPARD first appeared as a surname in Sussex at Laughton in the late 13th century. They appear to have been small free tenants and McKinley seems sure they all belonged to the same family.
