Hello Listers Here's a different slant on Mr or Esq. In checking some Staffordshire baptisms, most of the entries were daughter or son of "John DOE" or whatever, but that of my 5 x ggm, Mary TURNER, was noted as "Daughter of **Mr** Turner of Bradnip" (ie Bradnop near Leek - asterisks mine). I've heard or read that noting a man as Mr in such cases was an indication of being a bit more 'upmarket' that some. Any comments please? Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia
