    3. Hi, I have no connection to this family, only the church of St. Peter and St. Paul, West Wittering. On the list of clergy on the church wall it says 1793 Roger Challice BA. I have the parish registers on fiche and the earliest reference I can find to Roger is 1798 on a marriage entry. He performed his last baptism in September of 1815 and was buried April 28th 1816, aged 70yrs old. If he had a headstone it is now sadly unreadable. A Samuel Hugh Challice was baptised there January 16th 1825 son of Samuel and Jane. Samuel was a blockade sailor. My family has links back to 1670 with this church which will be further strengthened when my first grandchild, Ellie, will be baptised there in March.
