Hi, I have a family from the Lambeth, Sussex, Surrey area. I have never been able to find them on any census. I have Henrietta (nee Morgan) Lucas born on the IOW 11 Mar 1841 and died 01 Jan 1916 in London. On her death certificate it lists her husband as William Lucas. They have daughter Dorothy Kate Lucas. Dorothy was married 3 times- George Frederick Falla, James Marke Wood, and Robert Gordon Shewan. The last name she went by was Dorothy Shewan. Its been a very hard family to tract down. I found her once on the 1901 census listed as Dorothy Wood, age 25. I have been able to pinpoint where she was born or a exact birth year. I looked on the freebmd to try to order her birth certificate, but she's not listed. I am at a brickwall as to what to do now. Can anyone give me some help?? thanks Walter Morgan

Hi Walter, I have found Henrietta MORGAN on the 1851 census and 1871 census with her parents. I also have her parents in 1861, but she is nowhere to be found. According to FreeBMD Dorothy Kate LUCAS was born in Pancras District in 1888, but I haven't yet found her on the 1891 census with parents named William & Henrietta. FreeBMD lists a death for a Henrietta LUCAS in 1916, Paddington District. Please let me know if you wish me to send the census details, even though I haven't made the connection to William LUCAS. Sq. 1a 933 death of a James Marke Wood in Q2 1903 aged 27 in Toxteth Park (Liverpool) Marriages Jun 1906 Shewan Robert Gordon Strand 1b 1167 Wood Dorothy Kate M M Strand 1b 1167 According to a Shewan family genealogist, Robert Gordon Shewan died in Hong Kong (where he spent most of his adult life) in 1934, and his will refers to a Deed of Separation and Arrangement dated May 6 1910 and to a marriage settlement dated June 16 1906. Hi Walter I think I have found henrietta 1851 & 1871 and am sending possibles offline. However there is also a Henrietta married to a james Lucas on the 1871 census. I shall send that one too, just in case. I have found Dorothy on the 1901 census with James M Wood.......but where are her children??? Ah ok one died, and I have found Gwendoline Will send all and sundry and perhaps you can work through a few things. Walter, Gwendoline Falla aged 6 was in a convent in Derbyshire as a scholar. That seems very strange unless her family of her 1st husbands family were in the area.
