Hello Kathy, Just a few words of warning ! If you decide, when here, to hire a car, so that you can explore the countryside, and if you use it to visit Lewes, beware ! There is a car park adjacent to the RO but if you are unlucky there then be warned that parking in Lewes is anything but easy, unless you are an early bird ! There are lots of car parks and spaces but even miore cars. It could take you quite a while to find a space, if my experience a couple of months ago is anything to go by.. Jim Halsey

Jim > Halsey Lewes record office is also quite small. If you want to do any serious research you might want to call and book a table. If you tell them who you are looking into they may be able to pull out some information before you get there. You can get things copied but it can take a few days to get it done and posted. You also need a readers card, so you need ID which includes your name and address (driving license?). [I took my UK passport + picture ID card for the CAA + other bits of ID but no home address - so no card - my father took his US driving licence and was given a readers card straight away - bizarre or what!] -- Kind Regards Eddie Lord Researching: LORD; REEVES; SELDEN; FREWEN
